Australian Fashion Week: Aussies rising in the fashion stakes

AUSTRALIAN models hoping to follow in the footsteps of international catwalk star Karlie Kloss have turned to designer macgraw’s casting for Australian Fashion Week.

The label, operated by sisters Tessa and Beth MacGraw, cemented itself as a big player in the fashion industry when Kloss opened the David Jones autumn/winter show in its designs earlier in the year.

Now the designers are casting about 25 girls to follow the lead of the former Victoria’s Secret angel.

Model Astrid Holler, 20, who has worked with the brand before, says “it would mean a lot” to walk for them in Fashion Week, which starts in Sydney on May 14.

When casting, Tessa told Confidential they look for girls with plenty of personalities. “We think fashion should be fun and our models need to reflect that,” she said.

The MacGraws debuted at Fashion Week in 2014. Since then they’ve shown in Paris and presented their creations to Victoria Beckham.
